Visual Perception and Navigation

The aircraft sees for itself.

GPS is not available everywhere the work is. Transmission corridors, tall structures, enclosed spaces and areas under interference all weaken or remove the fix, and that is often exactly where the inspection needs to happen.
Our perception stack uses onboard cameras to estimate the aircraft’s own motion, build a usable picture of the space around it, avoid obstacles, and hold track on a target that is moving. It runs continuously rather than only at waypoints, so the aircraft responds to what is in front of it instead of following a route that was correct when it was drawn on the ground.
Where it helps: flying and finding things in places where a position fix and a stable link cannot be assumed.
